The hooves of the team of horses beat a slow, steady rhythm as they pulled the wagon down the country trail. A young man and his father discussed church matters as they rode along. The young man thought some things they did at church not only did not make sense, he thought they were opposite to what Jesus taught.
“Son, these practices have become established. It is not for us to question them,” the father said.
A little further on the trail turned muddy and the wagon sank up to its axles. The father jumped out of the wagon, calling to his son, “Come and help me. Grab some stones and limbs so we can pry the wheels loose.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, father,” the son answered. “It looks like the wagon has become established.”
