“I can’t draw to save my life,” said the artist

I used to train horses and at about the point where you could mount up and get the horse to go, stop and turn-we called them “green broke.” We knew that green broke meant you still might end with “bones broke” if you weren’t careful. That’s the stage my new computer is at-green broke.

The pen tablet my son bought me to make digital paintings is not compatible with Windows 8. It took me three days of effort to pinpoint the problem. I don’t have much pull with big corporate research and development departments, but in my opinion they should come up with an updated driver, right? I’m looking at you, Wacom! The brushes do completely unpredictable things. I can’t draw to save my life.

But I always try to look on the bright side-maybe I can make more spontaneous art with more spontaneous brushes? My grandma used to say you can get used to hanging if you hang long enough. Then again, maybe I’ll call Wacom and do an unsolicited customer satisfaction survey for them. Below is a painting I whipped out this morning with the spontaneous brushes, which I call, “Arrrgh! I can’t draw to save my life.”
