I am a fan of Alison Jardine, who paints light. Of course, there are objects in the light, because we humans cannot detect anything but white brightness if there are no objects involved.
Mystics and people who have near-death experiences often describe God as Light. John, the most mystical writer of the Bible, wrote: “This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.” (1 John 1:5) Timothy once described God thus: “…who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see.” (1 Timothy 6:16)
Other religions record similar things. Exactly what this means is for you to figure out; what it implies is both purity and life, because the sun shines on the plants which turn light into themselves and which plants we eat and turn into ourselves. Light=Life. Pretty astonishing, actually.
