I have about 60 pounds of papers to go through; research for my book on human nature. There I am, minding my own business, looking out the window daydreaming when suddenly “Oh, no, not another book idea!”
You know how they come to you when you least expect it. And sometimes you have to stop everything and get on it. Of course, my books have mostly been children’s books, which I’m converting to comic-style books. I have NO IDEA if anyone would ever want to buy such a book, but I can’t help it, I have to make it.
The story comes fast, but the art takes a long, long time. While I was working on this page today, I remembered saner times, when I was a Director of a charity and we had oh, so many meetings. The Board would mention something that wasn’t working and my creative brain would come up with a solution.
To which they would invariably reply, “But we’ve never done it that way.” And I would think, “Yeah, that’s why you’ve got a problem. Keep on doing what you’ve done and you keep on getting what you’ve got.” But you can’t say that to board members, who said they want you to “think outside the box.”
But guess what? They don’t. 🙂
(art is unfinished)
