Who told US leaders: You are lying when you claim to be Christian?

Here’s a riddle: Who wrote this letter to the U.S. government?

1.)  Mahatma Gandhi

2.)  Martin Luther King

3.)  Mother Teresa

4.)  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

5.)  None of the above, Je’, you made it up.

“The leaders of arrogance are lying, too. Some of them pretend to be Christian and at times even go to church. In my letter to them I wrote:

You purport to be a Christian. In what way are your measures consistent with the teachings of Jesus? Would he have killed people? Would he have perpetrated crimes? Would he have plundered? Would he have started wars in order to sell weapons and kill people?

Would he have perpetrated crimes in order to fill his pockets, and the pockets of his party members? Jesus was the pillar of divine compassion and mercy. He opposed oppression, foreign invasion and crime. This is why they crucified him.

You are lying when you claim to be a Christian. In what way are your actions consistent with the true New Testament? In what way do you resemble Jesus?

The correct answer is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad! Yes, the thoroughly demonized former leader of Iran thinks very highly of Jesus. Not only that, he seems to understand what Jesus said better than many of our own leaders!

You are probably more clever than I am. You probably don’t fall for media demonization of those the U.S. wishes to attack. It’s a tactic as old as the hills, but I, who am just a little bit younger than “the hills,” keep falling for it.
