In a previous post I mentioned that I was going to fight self-pity by finding something beautiful and amazing every day in my tiny 10 X 25 foot garden plot.
The first day I met a dragonfly on the tomato stake and when I said “Hi,” he nodded to me and said, “Wassup?” Because dragonflies are cool like that.
The next day a different color dragonfly was there and I have now seen about ten different kinds. How many kinds are there? Well there are 5,000 species of dragonfly!
Someone suggested that dragonflies are like mood rings and change color with the observer’s mood. This morning I saw this one, his wings blazing bronze with little dots of purple. Their wings, transparent as water, bend light like a prism, so their wings are simultaneously every color possible…and no color at all!
Depending, like so many things in life, on how you choose to look at it.
